A’ja Wilson makes history with fourth WNBA MVP award
Las Vegas Aces star becomes first player to win four MVPs after leading the league in scoring and blocks and guiding the team to a top playoff seed.

A’ja Wilson became the first player in WNBA history to win four MVP awards, the latest milestone in a season she again led the league in scoring and blocked shots. The decision was confirmed after ESPN first reported the selection, with a person familiar with the voting telling the Associated Press that Wilson had earned the honor.
Wilson averaged 23.4 points per game and 2.3 blocks per game, and she helped the Las Vegas Aces win 16 straight during the regular season to lock up the No. 2 seed for the playoffs. Finalists announced for the award were Napheesa Collier of Minnesota, Alyssa Thomas of Phoenix, Kelsey Mitchell of Indiana and Allisha Gray of Atlanta.
Wilson’s four-MVP milestone places her in a rare tier in WNBA history. Only a few players have won three MVPs, including Sheryl Swoopes, Lisa Leslie and Lauren Jackson. Cynthia Cooper won the award unanimously in the league’s first two seasons (1997 and 1998), and Wilson joins Cooper as the only players to win the MVP unanimously.
Wilson also previously captured MVP honors in 2020 and 2022, and she was the unanimous MVP last season, underscoring her sustained dominance. Beyond the award, the Aces leaned on her scoring and shot-blocking to pace a roster built for sustained success, including a 16-game regular-season winning streak that helped secure Las Vegas’ No. 2 seed entering the playoffs.
With the MVP in hand, Wilson and the Aces shift focus to the postseason, carrying title aspirations as they aim to defend the franchise’s championship run. The season’s historic nature adds a lasting chapter to Wilson’s already celebrated career.
