Arsenal winger Noni Madueke to undergo knee scans after City clash

Arsenal winger Noni Madueke is set to undergo scans on a right knee injury after suffering a knock during Arsenal's 1-1 draw with Manchester City on Sunday. The winger was seen clutching his knee late in the first half and was withdrawn at halftime, with Bukayo Saka coming on to replace him.

An update on the scans is expected on Tuesday during Mikel Arteta's press conference ahead of Arsenal's Carabao Cup third-round visit to Port Vale of League One. Madueke has been among Arsenal's standouts since joining from Chelsea in the summer.

Arsenal have already been hit by injuries, with Kai Havertz having undergone knee surgery last month. Saka returned to the Arsenal bench on Sunday after missing four weeks with a hamstring injury, but captain Martin Odegaard is sidelined again after aggravating a shoulder problem first picked up in August.

Madueke's impact since his arrival has been notable. Since signing from Chelsea, he has added pace and directness to Arsenal's attack, quickly becoming one of the club's brighter contributors in early-season fixtures.

With Havertz out and Odegaard sidelined, Arsenal's depth is being stretched as they head into a busy spell of fixtures across the Premier League and domestic cup competitions. The Carabao Cup third-round tie against Port Vale offers a chance for fringe players to stake a claim, while also testing the squad's resilience without two senior attackers.

Saka's return to the bench and his familiar workrate have offered some relief, but much attention remains on Madueke's welfare. The coming days will determine whether the scan results prompt any changes in Arsenal's plans for the Cup tie or the league schedule.
