Aryna Sabalenka Soaks Up Locker-Room Champagne After Second Straight U.S. Open Title
World No. 1 defeats Amanda Anisimova, 6-3, 7-6 (7), to claim her fourth Grand Slam and celebrates with team in tarp-covered locker room

Aryna Sabalenka celebrated her second consecutive U.S. Open title on Saturday with a champagne-soaked locker-room party after defeating Amanda Anisimova 6-3, 7-6 (7) at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing.
The world No. 1 closed out the match on Sept. 6, 2025, to secure her fourth Grand Slam trophy, having previously won the 2023 and 2024 Australian Opens and the 2024 U.S. Open. Sabalenka reached the final by beating American Jessica Pegula in the semifinals and faced a familiar opponent in Anisimova, who had stunned her at Wimbledon in July to reach her first Grand Slam final.
Footage posted from inside Sabalenka’s locker room showed members of her team spray and pour Moët & Chandon champagne over one another and into the championship trophy. Team members clinked bottles with Sabalenka, who joined the revelry and was filmed making champagne "angels" on a tarp laid over the lockers. The scene continued shortly after the final whistle and followed Sabalenka’s impromptu arrival at her post-match press conference holding a champagne bottle.
"I think because of the finals [losses] earlier this season, this one felt different," Sabalenka said at the podium. "This one felt like I had to overcome a lot of things to get this one. I knew that, [with] the hard work we put in, I deserved to have a Grand Slam title this season."
Anisimova, a 24-year-old from New Jersey, praised Sabalenka’s level of play. "She came out, and she was playing great tennis from the start," Anisimova said. "She’s No. 1, and she’s very capable of playing amazing tennis, which she did today. I give all the credit to her."
The match marked a continuation of Sabalenka’s recent dominance at the U.S. Open, where she defended the title she won a year earlier. Her season had included other finals appearances that she identified as motivating factors for her performance in New York.
Sabalenka’s victory underscores a stretch of Grand Slam success that has elevated her to the top of the WTA rankings and reinforced her standing among the game’s leading players. Anisimova’s run to the final, and her earlier win over Sabalenka at Wimbledon, provided a narrative of rivalry and momentum that culminated in Saturday’s straight-set result.

Tournament organizers and on-site coverage captured both the on-court trophy presentation and the locker-room celebration, which drew attention for its exuberance and the visible role of Sabalenka’s support team. Sabalenka’s comments framed the victory as the product of recent work and resilience, while Anisimova acknowledged the champion’s superior play on the day.
Sabalenka’s next official events and scheduling plans were not immediately announced following the title match. The U.S. Open concluded its final on Saturday evening, closing the Grand Slam calendar’s hard-court major for the year.
