Belichick, with Jordon Hudson at his side, leads UNC to 41-6 win over Richmond
Tar Heels secure first home victory under the former Patriots coach; Hudson, who manages his licensing firm, watched from the sideline

North Carolina coach Bill Belichick led the Tar Heels to a 41-6 victory over Richmond on Sept. 13, 2025, improving to 2-1 on the season while girlfriend Jordon Hudson watched from the sideline at Kenan Memorial Stadium.
Belichick praised several phases of the game after the rout, citing timely offensive plays and a decisive defensive stand near the goal line that helped swing momentum. “Offensively, we made a couple big plays, scored some points,” Belichick said, according to a UNC release. “And defensively, the goal line stand was a big, big, big series for us. And they turned the ball over and we scored on defense. So it was overall a good, good, solid effort. But, there are certainly a lot of things we can still work on and do better.”
The victory was Belichick’s first at home as a collegiate head coach after his debut with the Tar Heels began with a 48-14 loss to TCU on Sept. 1. UNC will travel to face UCF next weekend. The 73-year-old coach’s second game in Chapel Hill marked a sharper performance from a team that struggled in its opener.
Belichick’s move to Chapel Hill followed a lengthy run in the NFL, where he spent 24 seasons as head coach of the New England Patriots and won six Super Bowls. The Patriots parted ways with Belichick after a 4-13 season that concluded in January 2024. New England is now led by former linebacker Mike Vrabel, and entered the current season 0-1.

Hudson, 24, who has been publicly linked to Belichick since 2024, attended Saturday’s game and was pictured smiling on the field before kickoff. A former college cheerleader, she has supported Belichick’s transition to the college ranks and manages TCE Rights Management LLC.
TCE Rights Management recently encountered a setback with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office after applications for trademarks including “Do Your Job (Bill’s Version),” “Ignore the Noise (Bill’s Version),” “The Belestrator (Bill’s Version)” and “No Days Off (Bill’s Version)” were refused on the grounds of a likelihood of confusion with marks previously filed by the Patriots.

Saturday’s result provided an early-season lift for UNC as Belichick settles into the program. The Tar Heels will seek to build on the victory when they visit UCF next weekend, while Belichick and his staff work to address the areas the coach identified for improvement.
