Bills Rout Jets 30-10 as Justin Fields Leaves With Concussion
Buffalo improved to 2-0 behind James Cook and a steady Josh Allen as New York fell to 0-2 and Justin Fields exited with a head injury

The Buffalo Bills beat the New York Jets 30-10 at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, moving to 2-0 while the Jets slipped to 0-2 and lost quarterback Justin Fields to a second-half concussion.
Buffalo built a commanding lead behind two rushing touchdowns from James Cook and efficient play from Josh Allen, who did not need to be at his best to control the game. Fans at MetLife voiced their displeasure as the Bills extended their advantage early in the fourth quarter and many left the stadium before the final minutes.
The Jets struggled throughout, managing just 87 yards of offense at the point Elijah Moore — a former New York draft pick — opened the fourth-quarter scoring, a play that pushed Buffalo in front by 29-3 and triggered a mass exodus. New York failed to sustain drives, posting negative yardage on its opening series and finishing the first half with multiple stalled possessions and several penalties that helped the Bills build an early advantage.
Allen produced a 40-yard scramble from deep in his own territory and later benefited from a roughing-the-passer penalty on Michael Clemons at a third-and-19, a 15-yard penalty that kept a drive alive and set up Cook’s first touchdown. Cook later broke a 44-yard run for his second score. The Bills offense capitalized on short fields and Jets miscues throughout the day.
Fields’ afternoon was marred by turnovers and an inability to move the offense. He fumbled on the first play of a key drive and completed just three passes at one stretch of the game. He was removed after suffering a concussion in the second half and did not return. The Jets also lost some continuity on defense when they were unable to contain Cook and when penalties repeatedly stalled their efforts.
Buffalo’s quarterback briefly left the game after a blow to the face that produced a bloody nose, but Mitchell Trubisky entered and completed a 32-yard pass on his first series. The Jets’ only points for much of the game came on a 51-yard field goal by Nick Folk. Late in the fourth, with many fans already gone, backup Tyrod Taylor connected with tight end Jeremy Ruckert for a touchdown, producing the final margin.
Jets interim head coach Aaron Glenn had warned that mistakes would not be tolerated and said before the game that no single matchup is worth more than another. Glenn’s team has now lost consecutive games to open the season; last week’s close loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers had offered signs of progress, but Sunday’s performance undercut that optimism. Glenn has begun his tenure at MetLife with consecutive home defeats, and the Jets have not won the AFC East in more than two decades.
The Bills, by contrast, needed little from Allen to secure a comfortable victory, with Cook’s running and timely plays keeping Buffalo in control. The Jets will face questions about offensive direction and the health of Fields as they head into their next week of preparation, while the Bills carry momentum into the early division slate.
