Bills Run Through Jets as James Cook Racks Up 132 Yards in 30-10 Win

The Buffalo Bills beat the New York Jets 30-10 Sunday at MetLife Stadium, using a dominant rushing performance led by running back James Cook to control the game.

Cook finished with 132 yards on 21 carries, including a 44-yard scoring run in which he broke multiple tackles and eluded several defenders. The Bills totaled 225 rushing yards, the most the Jets have surrendered since yielding 260 to the Indianapolis Colts on Nov. 5, 2021.

Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen paced the offense efficiently, throwing for 148 yards and rushing for 59. The Bills did not rely on a prolific aerial attack but sustained drives behind their running game and timely play by Allen.

New York, which had shown promise in Week 1, struggled on both sides of the ball. Jets quarterback Justin Fields regressed from his previous outing, completing 3 of 11 passes for 27 yards and appearing indecisive at times. Fields missed a wide-open Garrett Wilson on a third-down throw early in the game and left late in the fourth quarter after a hard hit to the head that forced him from the field.

Defensively, the Jets could not contain Cook or Buffalo's offensive line. Several runs required missed tackles by New York defenders, and the Bills consistently gained positive yardage on the ground. The 225 rushing yards allowed were a season-high for Buffalo and a glaring weakness for the Jets' front seven.

Special teams and turnovers did not define the outcome. Instead, Buffalo's ability to run effectively and control the clock limited the Jets' offensive opportunities. New York produced few sustained drives, and its inability to convert key third downs kept the Bills ahead throughout the second half.

The loss raises questions about New York's defensive adjustments and pass protection, while Buffalo will take confidence from a balanced performance that featured a productive ground attack and efficient quarterback play. The game underscored Buffalo's strengths and exposed the Jets' difficulties stopping the run.

The Bills improved their standing with the victory, while the Jets must assess both the health and effectiveness of their offense and the resilience of their run defense. Fields' head injury will be monitored by the team's medical staff as the Jets evaluate next steps for their offense heading into the remainder of the season.
