Braelon Allen waits for Jets moment as workload remains limited

Braelon Allen says he is waiting for his Jets moment, acknowledging that his role has been limited as the team leans on a run-first offense. The second-year running back, a 2024 fourth-round pick, drew hype in training camp but has seen his snap count dwindle through the opening weeks of the season. Allen logged nine snaps in Sunday's game against the Bills, a sign of the limited on-field opportunity he has encountered so far.

Allen is Breece Hall’s understudy in a Jets offense that has leaned heavily on the run, leaving the young back on the periphery even as the unit focuses on its ground game. After a camp that suggested a more involved role, his in-game usage has not mirrored the early expectations.

"Asked about his usage, Allen said the word "surprising" didn’t resonate with him. He described the feeling as "disappointing" not to be playing, but he clarified that he never had any expectations about how the Jets would use him."

"Allen, the Jets’ 2024 fourth-round pick, remains a second-year back who has waited for his moment behind Hall as New York continues to deploy a run-first approach."

"With time to grow into the role, Allen will continue to train and wait for his opportunity when called."
