Cardinals debut 'rivalries' uniform; fan reaction mixed as they fall to Seahawks

The Arizona Cardinals debuted their brand new 'rivalries' uniform on Thursday night, but fan response was mixed. The desert-themed kit, designed by Nike, features a reimagined state flag on the sleeve, sandstorm speckles, and copper accents.

The uniform's reception on social media contrasted with the on-field results; some praised the look, while others compared it to a paint-splattered shirt. One post read, 'The Cardinals' uniform looks like that old shirt you throw on when you're painting the house—the one already covered in paint splatters.' Another wrote, 'I thought the Cardinals uniforms were dirty till I realized it's a new uniform thing.' A third post referenced the design with the line, 'These Cardinals uniforms be like' accompanied by a tortilla wrap image.

On the field, the Cardinals were swept by their division rival Seattle Seahawks, who were not wearing their own 'rivalries' uniform. The NFL's rivalries program aims to give each team a unique kit based on a local theme, with one NFC division and one AFC division debuting a new uniform each year. This season features the AFC East and NFC West.

The Dolphins are also slated to debut a new look during Week 4 against the New York Jets on Monday Night Football. Following that, the Bills will unveil theirs in Week 5, with the Patriots slated for Week 11 in 2026. In 2026, the AFC South and NFC North will receive new uniforms, followed by the AFC West and NFC East the following year, meaning teams in the AFC North or NFC South will have to wait until 2028 for their own custom designs.
