Colorado Reverts to Kaidon Salter as QB Shuffle Continues Ahead of Wyoming Game
Salter set to start at quarterback for Colorado in Boulder as Deion Sanders shifts among signal-callers.

Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders is returning to Kaidon Salter at quarterback for Saturday's home game against Wyoming, the latest pivot in a season defined by quarterback changes. The Buffaloes are 1-2 and have cycled through signal-callers more often than wins, underscoring ongoing quarterback uncertainty.
Salter, a senior transfer from Liberty who won the starting job over Julian Lewis and Ryan Staub, showed competence in his debut against Georgia Tech, completing 17 of 28 passes for 159 yards with one touchdown and rushing 13 times for 43 yards and another score. Staub, viewed as a potential starter, is reportedly headed back to the bench.
In the following week's 31-7 win over Delaware, all three quarterbacks played, and Staub led the way with 7 of 10 for 158 yards and two touchdowns. Deion Sanders complimented Staub after the game, telling ESPN, "Staub don't trip." Still, conversations within the program suggested a lineup shift could be in order as Colorado prepared for Big 12 play and the logical aim of stabilizing the offense.
Staub did start the Houston game, but Colorado could not capitalize on the early script, as he completed 19 of 35 passes for 204 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions in a 36-20 loss. The result appeared to reinforce Sanders's desire for more consistency at quarterback, and he moved back toward Salter as the Buffaloes seek to even their record.
Colorado enters the Wyoming game at 1-2, with questions lingering about how the offense will move the ball and which quarterback will provide the rhythm the team has sought since the season began. The move to Salter signals another chapter in a season already marked by rapid quarterback changes and a broader aim of stabilizing a program that saw its top playmakers depart this offseason. As the Buffaloes try to turn the page, the focus remains on execution, efficiency, and ball security against a Cowboys squad that has shown resilience early in the year.
