Daniels Leads Commanders Past Giants 21-6 as Newcomer Deebo Makes Impact

The Washington Commanders beat the New York Giants 21-6 on Sunday as quarterback Jayden Daniels maintained a perfect record against New York despite what the team described as an off day.

Daniels completed 233 passing yards and one touchdown and added 68 rushing yards, helping the Commanders control enough of the game to secure the victory. The Giants managed 13 plays inside the red zone but converted them into just three points.

Daniels improved to 3-0 against the Giants. The win featured a balanced effort from Washington, including a strong debut for Deebo Samuel after his trade from the San Francisco 49ers. Samuel had seven catches for a team-high 77 yards and scored on a 19-yard touchdown run, adding a missed element to the Commanders’ offense.

New York quarterback Russell Wilson completed 17 of 37 passes for 168 yards. Wilson’s stat line included an interception that was nullified by a penalty, and his performance drew attention as the Giants failed to sustain drives when they reached scoring range.

The offensive inefficiency in the red zone proved decisive. New York reached the red zone on 13 plays but came away with only a field goal, a shortfall that limited scoring opportunities against a Washington defense that forced inconsistent drives and capitalized on key possessions.

Commanders coach and players credited the collective effort on both sides of the ball. Washington’s ability to move the ball on the ground and through the air, combined with timely defensive stands, underpinned the margin.

Giants right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor voiced urgency after the loss, saying the team must correct its course quickly to avoid a repeat of last season’s struggles: "We have to be urgent, because if we let this linger like we did last year, we’ll be 3-14 again, and I’m damn sure not going to accept that."

The result underscored questions for New York about red-zone playcalling and execution and highlighted the Commanders’ early-season momentum with Daniels at quarterback and Samuel adding a new playmaking option. The teams will turn their focus to preparations for upcoming opponents as they evaluate adjustments from Sunday’s performance.
