Dominik Mysterio tops Worlds Collide, sets audience record as cross-promotional event yields big wins

Dominik Mysterio captured the AAA Mega Championship by defeating El Hijo del Vikingo at Worlds Collide, the WWE and Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide co-produced livestream event. El Hijo de Wagner Jr. defeated Dragon Lee, Ethan Page and JD McDonagh to retain the AAA Latin American Championship, and Pagano and Psycho Clown retained the AAA World Tag Team Championship. The show took place Sept. 12 at the Cox Pavilion at the Thomas & Mack Center in Paradise, Nevada. WWE said the event set a record for the largest concurrent live audience, peaking at 773,000 viewers across the WWE, WWE Español, AAA YouTube and Facebook channels. More than 4.1 million people watched the broadcast in the first 24 hours, with another 127 million viewers generated across social media.

Worlds Collide is in its second year as a co-produced concept following WWE's April acquisition of AAA ahead of WrestleMania 41. The first Worlds Collide aired ahead of Money in the Bank in June. Since the deal, WWE stars have been regularly featured in AAA events. Mysterio, the son of Rey Mysterio, previously placed the Intercontinental Championship on the line at Money in the Bank against AAA's Octagón Jr., retaining it, before turning his attention to Vikingo. With the latest victory, Mysterio is now a double champion and has been on a championship run since WrestleMania 41.

The collaboration between WWE and AAA continues to expand cross-promotional reach across North American audiences and streaming platforms, reflecting the growing strategy to blend WWE programming with AAA’s touring and streaming ecosystem. The record live audience figure underscores the pairing’s popularity and the sustained interest in the Worlds Collide concept as a marquee cross- promotion event for both promotions. The show’s success complements the rapid buildup of talent cross-pertilization, with WWE regulars appearing in AAA cards and AAA names featured on WWE platforms in the months surrounding WrestleMania.

Psycho Clown and other AAA stars have become fixtures on Worlds Collide-related programming, contributing to a sense of a unified, expanding lucha-libre audience that transcends single-promoter boundaries. The event’s results and the breadth of viewership illustrate how the two promotions have leveraged each other’s strengths to reach wider audiences while showcasing some of the industry’s top in-ring competitors.

Psycho Clown returned to a high-energy crowd moment as part of the night’s action, a reminder of the theatrical flair that has helped Worlds Collide stand out in the expanding landscape of cross-promotional wrestling offerings. The pairing of WWE’s North American presence with AAA’s Latin American base continues to drive attention, with stars like Mysterio serving as a bridge between brands and audiences.

As Worlds Collide evolves, observers will watch how the cross-promotional approach influences booking, title lines, and future events. The Sept. 12 show’s numbers place a benchmark for concurrent live views and social engagement, signaling that cross-promotional strategies may become a more central component of both promotions’ growth plans in the coming years.
