Ex-South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw collapses while coaching son's football team
Former Gamecocks quarterback hospitalized after collapse while coaching his son's flag-football team; condition not disclosed

Former South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw collapsed Wednesday while coaching his nine-year-old son's flag-football team and was rushed to Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital, according to The State. The 33-year-old Shaw remained in hospital for treatment, and there was no immediate update on his condition as of Thursday morning.
Shaw was on the field coaching Decker Drew's team when the collapse occurred, the report said.
Shaw, a Georgia-born quarterback, was South Carolina's starter from 2010 to 2013. He holds the program's record for the most wins by a starting quarterback and finished with 6,074 passing yards and 56 touchdowns. He was elected to the school's athletics hall of fame in 2021.
He signed with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent in 2014 and appeared in one regular-season game that year against the Baltimore Ravens. In that game, he completed 14 of 28 passes for 177 yards, with no touchdowns and one interception.
After his NFL stint, he had a brief spell with the Chicago Bears and later served as the University of South Carolina quarterbacks coach before moving to a role in player development.
South Carolina alumnus JP Hovey, a producer on the podcast 'Bussin' With The Boys,' wrote on X about the incident: "Reading that Connor Shaw collapsed while coaching his kids football team tonight. Freaking scary stuff. But if there's one thing we've learned about Connor Shaw it's that he's a fighter. Keep fighting 14 and we'll keep praying".
