Former Ohio State running back Jordan Hall arrested on felony assault charge

Former Ohio State football star Jordan Hall, 34, was arrested on a felony assault charge Saturday after police say he dragged a man from a car and struck him until he fell unconscious at a Columbus gas station. Hall played running back for the Buckeyes from 2009 to 2013 and served as a team captain. He faces a single felony assault count in connection with the early morning incident.

Columbus police responded around 1:20 a.m. to a report of an assault. They found the victim unconscious with head injuries and transported him to a local hospital in critical condition. Surveillance footage from the gas station reportedly showed Hall arriving at the scene with the victim and another man around 1 a.m. The ex OSU star then pulled the victim from a car and struck him in the face, according to a police affidavit. He reportedly returned to his vehicle and began to drive away before stopping, exiting the car again and continuing the assault. The victim fell backward and hit his head on the ground and remained motionless as medics arrived. Homicide detectives were called due to the seriousness of the injuries, though officials have not publicly declared the case a homicide.

Hall is a former Buckeyes star who played 2009–2013 and served as a team captain. After college he signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers but was released before playing a game. According to LinkedIn, Hall currently works for a management company in the building maintenance industry and aims to grow a large real estate portfolio in the Midwest. He was photographed in a mugshot at Franklin County Jail, where he was being held after the arrest. He is expected to appear in court on Monday as the case moves forward.

The incident underscores ongoing scrutiny around former college athletes who pursue professional opportunities outside sports. Authorities have not publicly connected Hall to any prior criminal history, and the investigation remains active as prosecutors review the evidence. The case, which centers on alleged actions at a gas station, will proceed through the court system, with officials from Franklin County expected to provide updates as available.
