Inside football's biggest transfers: the removals firm moving the stars

A London-based removals firm that specialises in moving elite footballers said it is routinely at the centre of the last-minute logistics that follow major transfers, handling everything from cars and wardrobes to saunas and unusual personal requests.

Premier Relocations, run by Andy Wells, reported a surge in work around transfer deadline day as clubs and agents confirm signings and players relocate. Wells said the company fields continuous calls the morning after the window closes and often has to deal with complicated changes of plan as deals are finalised.

Wells described routine and unexpected challenges encountered during moves. In one case, a player’s wife had left clothes in a wardrobe that needed sorting. In another, a player who had been moved out of his mansion because he was believed to be transferring to a European club ended up signing for a side an hour away and had to move back. "We moved him out because they thought he was going to Europe," Wells said. "But a club an hour away signed him so he’s going straight back in."

The firm says it has provided services for a number of high-profile players over several seasons, taking on assignments that span the UK and the continent. "Some of the biggest players who’ve moved this summer have moved with us," Wells said, while adding he could not confirm client identities for security reasons. Public reporting and the company’s social-media presence have linked the firm to moves involving several well-known names.

Wells and his staff also handle idiosyncratic requests and sensitive items. The firm recounts transporting cars, household goods and even a sauna, and dealing with live animals and bespoke demands from clients. The Daily Mail report on the company cites anecdotes such as staff sharing food and drink with managers and accommodating unconventional requests, descriptions Wells used to illustrate the personal nature of the work.

The business of moving players is one element of the broader, time-sensitive machinery of modern transfers. As deals are negotiated and announced, physical relocation must be coordinated with property access, security considerations and the timing of official registration. That coordination can involve removals teams, estate agents, club staff and security advisers working under compressed deadlines.

Premier Relocations’ profile has grown as transfer activity and media scrutiny around high-value moves have increased. The firm’s client list, as shown on social media, presents a star-studded cast, and Wells said that privacy and safety considerations mean the company frequently declines to disclose names. The combination of fast-moving transfer decisions and bespoke client demands has made specialised removals services a recurring part of the modern transfer ecosystem.

As transfer windows continue to drive last-minute movement across leagues, firms such as Premier Relocations are likely to remain integral to the off-pitch logistics that allow players to settle into new clubs and communities.
