Jason Sudeikis cheers as Arsenal rout Nottingham Forest amid Ted Lasso production shift

Jason Sudeikis was visibly delighted as he watched Arsenal secure a 3-0 Premier League victory over Nottingham Forest at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, a match in which midfielder Martin Zubimendi scored twice.

The 49-year-old actor, a long-time Arsenal supporter, attended the game in a red Arsenal zip-up jacket with a white shirt and navy tie, cheering from the stands and animatedly talking with a companion during the fixture. Arsenal’s win extended a dominant performance at home, with Zubimendi’s brace and another goal sealing the outcome.

Sudeikis’s appearance at the Emirates comes as production on season four of Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso has resumed and shifted between the United States and the United Kingdom. The show’s cast, including lead players Jason Sudeikis and Hannah Waddingham, reunited in Richmond, West London, after initial shooting this year in Kansas City, Sudeikis’s hometown. Filming in familiar London locations such as The Prince’s Head pub and Scott’s in Richmond has been reported by the production.

Warner Bros. Television chief Channing Dungey told Variety that production was back under way and that she was “really excited about the new cast.” Apple TV+ head of development Matt Cherniss told Deadline he had “high hopes for season four,” while Ted Lasso co-creator Bill Lawrence told Collider that any further seasons would depend on Sudeikis.

Season four has been described by Sudeikis as taking a different direction for the fictional coach. Speaking on the New Heights podcast earlier this year, he confirmed that Ted Lasso will coach a second-division women’s team in the upcoming season. The series is expected to return in summer 2026.

Casting for the new season will combine returning players and new additions. Alongside Sudeikis and Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, Jeremy Swift and Juno Temple are listed as returning. New cast members reported to have joined include Tanya Reynolds and Faye Marsay, with several other performers announced to appear in the season.

Ted Lasso has been a critical and awards success since its 2020 debut. The series earned 20 Primetime Emmy Award nominations and won seven awards in its first season, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Sudeikis. Since then it has accumulated multiple nominations and industry awards, solidifying its profile ahead of the new season.

Sudeikis’s attendance at the Emirates underscored the intersection of his real-life support for Arsenal and his on-screen association with soccer through Ted Lasso. Production sources said the U.S. shoots marked a first for the series after three seasons filmed in the U.K., and the transatlantic schedule reflects the show’s expanded narrative scope for season four.

Producers and executives have framed the new season as both a creative challenge and an opportunity to broaden the series’ world. Dungey said she had been uncertain earlier whether the show would return but was pleased to report it was back in production, and Cherniss warned only that he did not want to reveal plot direction while expressing enthusiasm for the season.

As Arsenal continue their domestic campaign, Sudeikis’s public support of his club is likely to draw attention from both football and entertainment audiences as fans await the next installment of the Emmy-winning comedy-drama.
