Jazz Chisholm Jr. exits after being drilled by pitch in Yankees injury scare

Jazz Chisholm Jr. left Saturday's game in The Bronx after being hit on the left forearm by a 96 mph sinker from Baltimore's Grant Wolfram, a scare for the Yankees as they chase the Blue Jays in the American League East.

Chisholm retreated to the dugout while trainers checked him, and the Yankees announced he was examined by team physician Dr. Chris Ahmad at Yankee Stadium. Initial X-rays were negative, and a CT scan was planned for further evaluation. Jose Caballero entered as a pinch-runner.

In the top of the fourth, Chisholm was involved in an accompanying scare when he collided with Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson while leaping to field a high throw from Cody Bellinger. He fell hard on his back and left shoulder but stayed in the game.

In his first full season with the Yankees, Chisholm became just the third player in franchise history to reach 30 homers and 30 stolen bases in a season, a milestone that underscored his impact as the team pressed toward the postseason. With the regular season ending Sunday and New York having already secured a postseason berth, officials awaited further medical updates and the results of the CT scan to determine his availability down the stretch and into the playoffs.

The Yankees have emphasized caution with injuries late in the season as they balance a championship push with the need to preserve players for a potential postseason run. Any definitive timeline on Chisholm's return will depend on the CT findings and the team's medical staff assessment.
