Joe Burrow Diagnosed with Turf Toe and Torn Ligaments; Expected to Miss Several Weeks
Cincinnati quarterback limped out of 31-27 win over Jacksonville and was replaced by Jake Browning, who finished the game

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has been diagnosed with turf toe and torn ligaments in his foot and is expected to miss several weeks, Fox19 reporter Jeremy Rauch said Monday.
Burrow, 28, limped off during the second quarter of Cincinnati's 31-27 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars after taking a sack from Arik Armstead and was ruled out of the game. He received medical attention on the field, went to the locker room and ultimately needed assistance to walk off. Burrow was replaced by backup Jake Browning.
Browning threw for 241 yards and two touchdowns with three interceptions in relief as the Bengals held on to the win. Cincinnati announced after the game that Burrow would not return, and Fox19's Rauch later reported that the injury involved torn ligaments associated with turf toe and that the expectation was Burrow would miss multiple weeks.
Turf toe is a sprain of the big toe joint caused by hyperextension, a condition that can sideline players depending on severity and treatment approach. The Bengals did not immediately release a detailed timetable for Burrow's recovery.
Burrow suffered a right wrist ligament injury two seasons ago that cost him the final seven games of that season. He was healthy for all 17 regular-season games last year, but Cincinnati failed to reach the playoffs. The team faces a challenging stretch over the next four weeks, with games against Minnesota, Denver, Detroit and Green Bay on the docket.
Coach and team officials had not provided further medical details or a formal recovery schedule as of Monday evening. The Bengals will rely on Browning and their depth at quarterback while they evaluate Burrow's condition and treatment options.
The club's immediate priorities include managing Burrow's medical care and preparing for upcoming opponents without their starter. The timeline provided by Rauch places Burrow's absence in the short-to-medium term; the team will update his status as medical evaluations continue.
More information is expected as the Bengals provide official updates and as team physicians complete further examinations.
