John Daly Records 19 on Par-5, Sets Unwanted PGA Tour Champions Mark
At the Sanford International in Sioux Falls, Daly’s 19 on the par-5 12th hole became the highest single-hole total in PGA Tour Champions history.

John Daly recorded a 19 on the par-5 12th hole Friday at the Sanford International in Sioux Falls, S.D., marking the highest single-hole score in PGA Tour Champions history.
According to shot-by-shot details provided by the tournament, Daly’s tee shot found the rough and was followed by seven consecutive shots into a water hazard before he finally cleared the hazard into more rough. His 17th shot came to rest on the collar of the green and he got up and down for the 19. The round left the 59-year-old with an 88 for the day.
The 19 surpassed the previous PGA Tour Champions single-hole high by three strokes, a mark shared by three players and most recently set by Bruce Crampton in 1996 at the Greater Grand Rapids Open. The tournament’s scoring data from Minnehaha Country Club did not include laser-measured shot locations, and officials said some details were unclear.
Daly’s 19 on the 12th also exceeded his personal high single-hole totals. He carded an 18 on the par-5 sixth hole during the 1998 Bay Hill Invitational, when a 3-wood found water on six straight attempts. Daly’s highest nine-hole total on the PGA Tour came in the second round of the Valspar Championship at Innisbrook in 2014, when he posted a 90 that included a 12 on the 16th hole amid a struggle with the yips.
At Minnehaha, Daly managed a par on the 13th hole following the 19. Tournament officials and PGA Tour Champions representatives did not immediately provide additional comment. Daly did not respond to a request for comment from The Associated Press.
The Sanford International, contested at Minnehaha Country Club, is part of the PGA Tour Champions schedule for senior professionals. The event and its scorecards are subject to normal review and verification processes by the tour.
Daly, a two-time major champion known for his long driving and colorful career, has had sporadic appearances on the PGA Tour Champions since becoming eligible. His performance Friday drew attention because it established an unwanted milestone in the tour’s record book.
