Jordon Hudson Back on UNC Sideline as Bill Belichick Enjoys First Home Win
Hudson, 24, seen celebrating during North Carolina's 41-6 victory; Belichick and partner face federal trademark rejections

Jordon Hudson, 24, was again on the sideline at Kenan Memorial Stadium on Saturday as her boyfriend, North Carolina football coach Bill Belichick, celebrated a 41-6 home victory over Richmond.
Hudson was observed laughing and posing for photographs with the 73-year-old coach before the game and talking with supporters during warmups. She rejoined Belichick on the sideline after not attending UNC’s previous home appearance in Charlotte; she had made a brief sideline appearance before UNC’s opening loss to TCU earlier in the season.
After the game Hudson was seen speaking with Belichick near the team buses as he drank a Coca-Cola. The two differed in pregame attire from earlier appearances: Hudson wore a black hooded sweatshirt on Saturday after wearing an all-white outfit at a previous game.
School officials and Belichick have previously said Hudson is not a University of North Carolina employee and therefore has no official reason to be on the sideline during games. Despite that, Hudson has regularly accompanied Belichick since he took the UNC job and has been described at times as acting as a de facto publicist, remaining close to the coach while he works with the program.
Her presence in Chapel Hill has drawn attention from fans and broader public interest. Local supporters were photographed taking selfies with Hudson during a team event this week, and she has been visible at multiple team activities since Belichick’s arrival.
Off the field, Belichick and Hudson were dealt a setback last week when the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office rejected several trademark applications filed by TCE Rights Management, an LLC owned by Belichick and managed by Hudson. The agency refused registration for four marks — "Do Your Job (Bill's Version)," "Ignore the Noise (Bill's Version)," "The Belestrator (Bill's Version)" and "No Days Off (Bill's Version)" — citing a likelihood that "consumers would be confused, mistaken or deceived as to the commercial source of the goods and/or services of the parties." The USPTO noted that similar phrases had been previously trademarked by the New England Patriots in 2009, 2013 and 2017 while Belichick was with the franchise.
Other applications filed by the couple remain under review. The trademark attempt for "Gold Digger" covering jewelry and key chains is pending, as are filings for marks including "Chapel Bill (Bill's Version)" and "The Dynasty (Bill's Version)." The use of the parenthetical "Bill's Version" echoes a popular apparel motif that became widely recognized after the "Taylor's Version" trend in the music and sports worlds.
Belichick, the six-time Super Bowl-winning coach, is 2-1 at North Carolina this season. The Tar Heels moved to 2-1 in games with Saturday’s dominant performance, their second win since Belichick was hired to lead the program. The coach and Hudson have remained in the public eye as the season progresses, drawing attention both for on-field results and off-field activities connected to the couple.
Game statistics and in-game decisions were the focus for UNC staff and players following the victory as they prepare for upcoming opponents. Belichick, who has extensive NFL coaching experience, has emphasized team preparation and fundamentals since taking the job; the university and athletic department have continued to manage access to sideline areas consistent with their policies.
As the season continues, the university and the NFL-era coach will confront both athletic priorities and heightened public scrutiny surrounding sideline access and the couple’s commercial activities. The USPTO’s recent decision narrowed the immediate scope of trademark protections the couple sought, but several filings remain pending and could be subject to further review or appeal.
Saturday’s win offered Belichick a home victory with UNC and another chapter in his first season at the college level, while Hudson’s visible support on the sideline kept attention on the intersection of a high-profile coaching hire and the public activities of his partner.
