Josh Allen chides fans who left early after Bills' 41-40 comeback over Ravens

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen took a thinly veiled jab at members of the crowd who left Highmark Stadium early Sunday night, after the Bills completed a 41-40 comeback victory over the Baltimore Ravens.

"Our team didn't quit," Allen told NBC after the game. "I mean, I think there's people that left the stadium. That's OK, we'll be fine. But have some faith next time." The Bills rallied from a 15-point fourth-quarter deficit to win on a Matt Prater field goal, closing the game in an electrifying finish.

Buffalo's comeback unfolded over the final seven minutes after a Derek Henry fumble set up a 1-yard touchdown run by Allen that cut the Ravens' lead to 40-38. The Bills' defense forced a three-and-out on Baltimore's ensuing possession, and Prater — making his Bills debut at 41 years old as the replacement for injured Tyler Bass — drilled the game-winning field goal.

Allen finished 33 of 46 for 394 yards and two touchdown passes while also contributing on the ground during the late rally, earning his 77th career win and tying Joe Ferguson for second on the Bills' franchise list. Kicker Matt Prater, who had already tied up the first half with a 43-yard field goal as time expired in the second quarter, was hoisted on teammates' shoulders after the final kick.

Baltimore's offense piled up yards and points but could not finish. Lamar Jackson accounted for three touchdowns — two passing — and the Ravens scored on seven of their first eight possessions. Henry rushed for 169 yards and two scores, moving past Jim Brown into sixth on the career rushing touchdown list and matching Brown's mark with his 13th game of at least 150 yards and two rushing scores. But Henry's fumble with 3:06 remaining, forced by Ed Oliver and recovered by Terrel Bernard at Baltimore's 30, opened the door for Buffalo's rally. "I told my teammates after the game, put the loss on me. I own it like a man," Henry said. "Got lackadaisical and they made a play. ... If I take care of the ball, I feel like it would be a different situation."

The two teams combined for 929 yards of offense, with Buffalo totaling 497. Baltimore became the first team in NFL history to lose a game after scoring at least 40 points and rushing for 235 yards or more.

The crowd interaction on the night extended beyond early departures. Late in the third quarter, Jackson pushed back at a fan in the end zone after the man struck Ravens receiver DeAndre Hopkins in the helmet while celebrating a 29-yard touchdown catch. Jackson said afterward he regretted the reaction and should have let security handle it; stadium officials ejected the fan.

The game marked the Bills' 53rd and final home opener at Highmark Stadium, commonly known as "The Ralph." The team will move into a new $2.1 billion facility across the street next season.

Buffalo's coach Sean McDermott praised Allen's demeanor in crunch time. "Josh, he's always been like that though. He wants the ball in key moments of the game," McDermott said. "That's what the great ones, that's their mindset. That's what they want, that's what they do. And he's never out of it in his mind."

Ravens rookie kicker Tyler Loop made two field goals in his debut but missed an extra point that ultimately proved costly. Loop, a sixth-round pick, is filling the vacancy after Baltimore released veteran Justin Tucker in the offseason following accusations of inappropriate behavior.

The win was one of the franchise's most unlikely comebacks, overcoming a 15-point fourth-quarter deficit for just the third time in Bills history. Fans who stayed to the end celebrated wildly as Buffalo completed the late scoring drives that erased a seemingly insurmountable deficit, while others who exited early missed one of the season's most dramatic finishes.
