Kelce- Reid confrontation highlights Chiefs' win over Giants at MetLife
Second-quarter exchange between Travis Kelce and Andy Reid followed a missed 40-yard field goal; Chiefs beat the Giants 22-9 at MetLife Stadium

Travis Kelce had a heated exchange with Chiefs coach Andy Reid during Sunday's game against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium. In the second quarter, the tight end caught a pass that helped set up a 40-yard field goal attempt that Harrison Butker later missed.
As Kelce walked toward the sideline, Reid came over and directed his ire at the veteran tight end, yelling and then bumping him with his shoulder before walking away. The moment drew attention on a day in which Kansas City ultimately prevailed, 22-9.

The exchange is not the first time Kelce and Reid have clashed on the field. In the run-up to the Chiefs' 2024 Super Bowl title, Kelce and Reid were involved in another moment of high emotion after a fumble against the San Francisco 49ers. Kelce confronted Reid on the sideline and later shrugged off the incident, saying the exchange was private and not a reflection of their relationship.
Kelce later told ESPN that he was simply expressing how much he loves Reid. “I’m just telling him how much I love him,” he said. The sentiment was echoed by a close observer cited by Page Six who described Kelce as a passionate player and noted there was no malice behind the moment.
A Page Six source described Kelce as “a passionate player” and said the exchange reflected the game’s intensity rather than malice. The source added that Kelce respects Reid and that the moment was no more than a high-stakes confrontation typical of such competitive moments on a big stage.

Earlier this season, Kelce was shown erupting on his Chiefs teammates during a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, taking off his helmet and throwing it to the ground in the second quarter at Arrowhead Stadium. The incident drew attention to Kelce’s fiery temperament in high-pressure games.
According to reports, the NFL fined Kelce nearly $14,500 for an obscene gesture near his groin area after a 23-yard reception earlier in the year. The league and team did not publicly expand on the incident beyond the fine.
Despite the on-field tension, the Chiefs secured a 22-9 victory over the Giants, keeping momentum for the defending champions as the season progresses.
