Kylie Kelce recalls awkward 'welcome to the NFL' moment at Lincoln Financial Field
On her podcast, Jason Kelce’s wife described being introduced as his ‘girlfriend’ and explained why she has avoided commenting publicly on Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s engagement
Kylie Kelce said an early encounter at Lincoln Financial Field marked her blunt introduction to life in the NFL’s social circles, recounting on her podcast a moment in which another player’s wife reacted as if she had been misidentified.
On Thursday’s episode of the "Not Gonna Lie" podcast, Kylie Kelce described being introduced in a family room at the stadium as "Jason’s girlfriend," only to hear a woman she did not know respond, "He has a girlfriend?" Kylie Kelce said she stood in front of the woman and replied, "Yes, bitch, you just said that" and later added she did not have to interact with the woman much after the exchange.
Kylie Kelce, who has been married to former Eagles center Jason Kelce since 2018, said she does not even recall the name of the woman and called the encounter her "welcome to the NFL moment." She said the brief incident left her comfortable keeping her distance from the woman afterward.
During the same episode, Kylie Kelce addressed her decision to avoid discussing publicly the engagement of her brother-in-law, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and pop star Taylor Swift. She said outlets and artificial intelligence tools often isolate and repost selected quotes, which can misrepresent context.
"I have made a very conscious effort to not discuss Taylor and Travis on this podcast because news outlets, tabloids and AI, quite frankly, like to post only the quotes that they grab from whatever I say," she said. Kylie Kelce added that she has communicated privately with the couple and does not feel the need to make public statements about their personal lives.
"I think it goes without being said that I am so incredibly happy for them," she said. "We are so excited that they are taking this next step. The girls are so excited to get another aunt. I am so truly happy for them, and I feel so grateful that we get to welcome Taylor into our family in a more official capacity. But it’s our private relationship."
Kylie Kelce’s remarks came after Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift announced their engagement on Aug. 26 on Instagram. The couple shared a carousel of photos taken in a garden amid pink and white flowers; the post included a caption referencing their different past roles — "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married." Media reports, including Page Six, said Travis Kelce proposed at his Leawood, Kansas, residence after the couple filmed Swift’s "New Heights" podcast episode on Aug. 13.
Kylie Kelce and Jason Kelce, a former longtime Eagles center, live with their four daughters. The Kelces have at times appeared publicly with Travis Kelce and Swift at NFL games and family events, but Kylie Kelce said she prefers to handle certain family matters privately rather than through press statements.
