Lamar Jackson Shoves Fan After Being Smacked in Helmet Following Touchdown

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson shoved a fan seated near the field after the spectator appeared to smack Jackson and receiver DeAndre Hopkins on the helmet as the players came close to the barrier following a touchdown late in the third quarter Sunday night.

Jackson had just thrown a 29-yard touchdown pass to Hopkins, who secured the score with a one-handed catch that gave Baltimore a 34-19 lead as the third quarter ended. NBC's broadcast showed the fan make contact with the players' helmets before Jackson pushed the fan backward; no penalty was assessed on the play.

Jackson returned to the Ravens' bench and appeared to regain his composure. Hopkins did not react to the contact from the spectator. The touchdown was part of an efficient night for Jackson, who completed 12 of 15 passes for 194 yards and two touchdown passes through three quarters and also had 38 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. Running back Derrick Henry had 129 rushing yards and a touchdown through three quarters.

The game was played Sunday in Orchard Park, N.Y. Baltimore entered the matchup seeking revenge after Buffalo eliminated the Ravens from the playoffs in January; Buffalo advanced to the AFC Championship Game last season but lost to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The touchdown catch helped Baltimore take control of the contest as the third quarter closed. Broadcast footage of the shove circulated on social media and sports networks following the play. League or team officials did not immediately announce any disciplinary action related to the incident.

Jackson's shove drew attention amid an otherwise strong individual performance and a dominant offensive effort by the Ravens in the game. The teams traded possessions in the fourth quarter, with Baltimore attempting to preserve its lead while Buffalo sought a late rally. The incident prompted discussion about sideline and spectator boundaries but produced no further on-field altercation during the remainder of the game.

Officials and the teams had not released detailed statements immediately after the game about the exchange between Jackson and the spectator. The NFL has policies governing fan behavior and player interactions with spectators, and any follow-up would typically be handled by team security and league review.

The play and the shove were among several notable moments in a game that featured big plays on both sides. Baltimore's offensive production through three quarters underscored why the Ravens entered the season with high expectations, while Buffalo's performance kept the outcome in doubt until late. Postgame reviews and any potential follow-up from the league are expected to clarify whether further action will be taken regarding the interaction between Jackson and the spectator.
