Lindor, Soto join 30-30 club as Mets top Cubs at Wrigley

CHICAGO — Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto joined MLB's exclusive 30-30 club on Thursday, powering the New York Mets to an 8-5 victory over the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. The feat makes them the third pair of teammates to reach 30 homers and 30 stolen bases in the same season, following the 1987 duo of Howard Johnson and Darryl Strawberry and the 1996 partnership of Dante Bichette and Ellis Burks.

Lindor belted a 408-foot shot to left off Cubs left-hander Shota Imanaga with the bases empty, a ball that cleared the wall and left Wrigley Field for his 30th homer of the season.

Soto had joined the 30-30 club earlier in September, the first time he has accomplished the milestone in his major-league career. If he steals four more bases in the Mets' final four regular-season games, he would become the first Mets player to post a 40-40 season.

Together, Lindor and Soto became the third pair of teammates to go 30-30 in the same season, joining Howard Johnson and Darryl Strawberry (1987) and Dante Bichette and Ellis Burks (1996).

Lindor previously had a 30-30 season with the Mets in 2023. The milestone underscores the durability and versatility of the Mets’ lineup as they push toward the season’s final stretch.

These milestones highlight a breakout campaign for two of the sport's premier players and add a historic chapter to the Mets’ season.
