Livermore police probe viral footage of organizers confronting activist at USA Cycling Oakland Grand Prix

Police in Livermore, California, are investigating an incident at USA Cycling’s Oakland Grand Prix after video that appears to show race organizers berating a women’s sports activist circulated online.

The footage, which went viral in recent days, shows activist Beth Bourne asking event staff whether the women competitors had been sex‑tested. An organizer is then seen approaching Bourne, covering her camera and telling her, "We have policies in place. You can stop filming me." Bourne can be heard saying, "Give me my phone!" and walking away visibly upset before another organizer shouts, "Hey! Get the f--- out of here!"

Bourne, a California activist known for opposing the participation of biological males in women’s and girls’ sports, told Fox News Digital the confrontation was "emotional" and said she was "terrified" after an organizer approached from behind. Additional footage posted online shows what Bourne said was the same organizer placing a pizza box in front of her camera, then taking her protest signs and putting them in a trash can near the race start and finish area. Bourne alleged the organizer told her, "Your God isn't going to protect you," and called her "a hateful, awful person."

A Livermore Police Department spokesperson told Fox News Digital, "At the moment, we are looking into the matter and are in the process of reviewing our report and video footage." The department did not provide further details in its statement to media.

The same event drew scrutiny for a separate viral clip of Chelsea Wolfe, a cyclist who previously competed as an alternate for Team USA in women's BMX. In footage from the event, Wolfe can be heard using profanity toward protesters. Wolfe also attracted attention over social media posts last week in which she shared reports about the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk and wrote in an Instagram Story, "We did it!"

Chelsea Wolfe

USA Cycling provided a statement to Fox News Digital regarding Wolfe's social media posts, saying, "The views of current and former national team athletes are their own and do not reflect those of USA Cycling. Chelsea Wolfe has not been a member of the USA Cycling National Team or a member of USA Cycling since 2023." Fox News Digital has sought additional comment from USA Cycling about the interaction between organizers and the protester but had not received a response.

Organizers and participants at cycling events have faced heightened scrutiny in recent years as debates over eligibility, gender and protest activity have become more prominent in sports coverage. The Oakland Grand Prix, held on Sunday, attracted both competitors and spectators for races run under USA Cycling sanctioning; the videos posted online prompted public reaction and led to the Livermore police review.

The Livermore Police Department said its review of reports and video remains ongoing. USA Cycling and event organizers did not provide immediate public comment beyond the statement on Wolfe, and officials did not report arrests or charges in connection with the incident in the materials provided to media.
