Diego Lopes defeated countryman Jean Silva in the main event of Noche UFC on Saturday night in San Antonio, stopping Silva with a spinning back elbow in the second round to claim the $100,000 prize. It was Silva's first loss inside the UFC Octagon.
Moments after the victory, Lopes took part in a backstage interview, during which he began chugging Gatorade and suddenly vomited onto the floor. He later apologized to those around him and appeared to reach for another bottle of the sports drink.
Full Send MMA reported that Lopes was examined by a doctor and cleared of a concussion, with the outlet describing the episode as an adrenaline dump. The win marked Lopes's second fight of 2025, following a unanimous-decision loss to Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 314 in Miami in April, which stood as the seventh defeat of his professionnal career. Lopes secured the victory over Silva in San Antonio with a decisive finish, bouncing back after the earlier setback and reaffirming his ongoing presence in the upper tier of the division.
