Man City derby win caps strong gameweek for Daily Mail Sport Predictor entrants
Phil Foden and Erling Haaland starred as Pep Guardiola’s side beat Manchester United 3-0, while multiple players posted near-perfect scores in gameweek four of the Daily Mail Predictor

Manchester City’s 3-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday provided a decisive finale to Premier League gameweek four and produced a rich return for many participants in the Daily Mail Sport Predictor competition.
Phil Foden opened the scoring at the Etihad before Erling Haaland completed a brace to seal a comfortable victory for Pep Guardiola’s team. The result helped a number of Predictor entrants who had backed a home victory or correctly forecast the match outcome among other weekend fixtures.
Daily Mail Sport’s expert Lewis Steele correctly predicted four results across the round. Steele had forecast Arsenal to beat Nottingham Forest, Newcastle to overcome Wolves, Tottenham to defeat West Ham and Liverpool to beat Burnley; his picks for Everton and Chelsea did not come off, and he had predicted the Manchester derby would finish level. Steele’s selections were published in the outlet’s preview on Friday.
Among entrants, 115 players accurately predicted the results of seven Premier League fixtures in the weekend’s slate. FowlFemurGrowth topped the gameweek leaderboard after correctly predicting that the first goal at the Etihad would come in the 18th minute. Kieran Gill achieved a perfect week in the Daily Mail Sport league, correctly forecasting seven results and coming within five minutes of the actual time of the first goal in the Manchester derby. Jack Gaughan recorded six correct results and Nathan Salt had five accurate predictions.
Several matches were decided by late goals that proved decisive for Predictor scores. Brentford salvaged a 2-2 draw with Chelsea via a deep injury-time equaliser at Brentford Community Stadium, and Mohamed Salah’s stoppage-time penalty secured a 1-0 win for Liverpool away at Burnley.
Other weekend results included Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in Ange Postecoglou’s first match in charge of Forest, Newcastle’s 1-0 win against Wolves, and Tottenham’s 3-0 triumph over 10-man West Ham in the London derby. Everton were held to a goalless draw by Aston Villa on Saturday.
The Predictor competition offers a weekly prize of £1,000 and runs throughout the 2025-26 Premier League season. The game is open to residents of Great Britain aged 18 and over, excluding Northern Ireland, and is accessible via the Daily Mail website and mobile app. Daily Mail Sport published the results and analysis of gameweek four on 15 September 2025, reporting on both expert picks and the player leaderboard.
Gameweek four combined defending champions’ form, last-gasp moments and a high success rate among Predictor entrants, underlining the narrow margins that have characterised early fixtures in the new Premier League campaign.
