Man City re-sign Savinho on six-year contract after Tottenham bid fails

Manchester City have moved to secure Savinho on a six-year contract after Tottenham Hotspur failed to meet City's valuation in the summer transfer window. Spurs registered serious interest in the Brazil winger after Son Heung-min's departure, James Maddison's ACL injury and missing out on Eberechi Eze, but could not meet City's valuation, thought to be north of £70 million.

City are in negotiations with Savinho's representatives and hope to reach an agreement in the coming days. The six-year deal would keep the 21-year-old at the Etihad Stadium through 2031.

'Always for the people up front it is about numbers, goals and assists,' Guardiola said after Savinho scored his first goal of the campaign in midweek against Huddersfield Town. 'Savinho created a lot last season but in the final third, the final moment he was a little bit too hectic. But the moment he learns that, because he is so young, the more he improves, he'll be a top-class player because he can play on both sides, he's got the speed and the work ethic. Savinho will make this step, naturally it will come and he will be a top player for Man City.'

Savinho has shown flashes of potential since breaking into City’s squad, and his midweek strike against Huddersfield Town marked his first goal of the campaign. City’s plan to secure him on a long-term deal underscores their belief in his continued development and their intent to maintain depth on the flanks as they push for consistent success in the Premier League and beyond.
