Marcus Jordan Agrees to Deal to End DUI Case and Must Apologize to Arresting Officer

Marcus Jordan has agreed to a prosecutor-backed deal to resolve a Florida DUI and cocaine-possession case that requires him to submit to monitoring and make a written apology to an arresting officer, according to media reports.

Under terms reported by TMZ, which were circulated by multiple outlets, the 34-year-old son of Hall of Famer Michael Jordan must write a 250-word apology to one of the officers involved in his February arrest and meet several other conditions over the next 12 months for prosecutors to drop all charges.

The reported conditions include random drug testing, a $1,000 donation, installation of an ignition interlock device on his vehicle and completion of 50 hours of community service. If Jordan complies with the requirements during the specified period, prosecutors would move to dismiss the DUI and related charges, the reports said.

Police reports from the Maitland Police Department describe the February incident that led to Jordan’s arrest. Officers said they located the headlights of a Lamborghini on railroad tracks and observed bumper damage and kicked-up rocks that suggested the vehicle had been trying to flee but become stuck. Jordan told officers he had taken a wrong turn and needed help removing the car from the tracks, according to the report.

Officers noted a strong odor of alcohol, slurred speech and bloodshot eyes and say Jordan failed three field sobriety tests. He allegedly told officers he had been at a gentlemen’s club and had been drinking but insisted his blood-alcohol concentration was below the legal limit. The report also states officers found a white powdery substance in Jordan’s pocket that tested positive for cocaine. Police described him as combative while being placed in a patrol car and said he sang on the way to jail.

Jordan has drawn public attention in recent years in part because of his family ties and personal relationships. He previously dated reality television personality Larsa Pippen, who spoke publicly about their breakup and said she concluded the relationship was not right for her after time apart. The relationship drew notice because of Pippen’s former marriage to ex-Bulls teammate Scottie Pippen and the 17-year age difference between her and Jordan.

Prosecutors and representatives for Jordan did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The reported agreement follows months of media coverage of the February arrest and court proceedings. Further developments will depend on whether Jordan meets the stipulated requirements during the coming year.
