Micah Parsons records first sack as a Packer; ex-Cowboys teammate Trevon Diggs reacts in disbelief

Micah Parsons recorded his first sack as a Green Bay Packer in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 27-13 victory over the Detroit Lions, a play that drew a stunned social-media reaction from his former Dallas Cowboys teammate Trevon Diggs.

The play came as part of a strong defensive showing by Green Bay at Lambeau Field on Sept. 7, 2025, when the Packers pressured Lions quarterback Jared Goff four times and limited Detroit’s consistency on offense. Lambeau Field erupted when Parsons dropped Goff for a loss on what was listed as the edge rusher’s first tackle as a member of the Packers.

Trevon Diggs, who played alongside Parsons on Dallas’ defense and had been publicly close with him after the trade that sent Parsons to Green Bay, posted a clip of the play with the comment, “This can’t be real,” adding, “Wake me up from the dream.” Diggs had reacted emotionally when the trade and Parsons’ subsequent four-year, $188 million contract extension were announced, posting a broken-heart emoji and calling Parsons the “best in the world.”

Parsons’ sack was one of four on Goff, who finished 31 of 39 for 225 yards with one touchdown and one interception. While Goff completed a high percentage of his passes, the Lions were unable to sustain drives consistently against Green Bay’s defense.

Packers quarterback Jordan Love completed 16 of 22 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns, finding Jayden Reed and Tucker Kraft in scoring plays that helped build a comfortable lead. Fellow Packers edge rusher Rashan Gary contributed 1.5 sacks and seven tackles in the game.

Parsons, a four-time Pro Bowler in Dallas, made his long-anticipated debut after the offseason move to Green Bay, and the immediate impact on the defensive line was a focus of postgame discussion. The sack provided a visible moment for Packers fans and underscored the expectations that accompanied Parsons’ high-value contract.

Detroit managed to move the ball at times but could not convert that production into enough points to challenge Green Bay’s margin. The Lions’ offense faced sustained pressure on multiple series, limiting explosive plays and field-position advantages.

The postgame narrative quickly turned toward the matchup’s future implications. Diggs and Parsons are scheduled to meet again in Week 4 when the Cowboys visit the Packers on Sunday Night Football, adding an extra storyline to an early-season division slate. Dallas opened its season on Thursday against the Philadelphia Eagles, a 24-20 loss in which Diggs played, while Green Bay improved to a 1-0 start with the win over Detroit.

Coaches and analysts are likely to track Parsons’ role in Green Bay’s defensive schemes as the season progresses and to watch how the early chemistry with teammates like Gary develops. For now, Parsons’ first sack in a Packers uniform became an immediate talking point and a social-media moment between former teammates as the NFL season moves into its next slate of games.
