Murray signs with Purina Pro Plan as Bonnie the dog takes center stage

Sir Andy Murray, Scotland’s most successful tennis player, has expanded his off-court brand portfolio by becoming the face of Purina Pro Plan for a new pet-nutrition campaign that features his eight-month-old puppy Bonnie. The campaign, aimed at inspiring owners to focus on their pet’s nutrition and to treat animals like a pro, adds to a string of endorsements that includes Albert Bartlett potatoes, Walker’s shortbread, Callaway Golf and a role with the World Wildlife Fund.

Announced in July, the Purina Pro Plan partnership comes after Murray introduced Bonnie to fans last spring, nine months after the family’s Border terrier Rusty died and two years after Maggie-May’s passing. Murray has said Bonnie will be a busy member of the Murray household as the new campaign face.

Details of Murray’s commercial footprint show a broad portfolio rooted in sport and lifestyle. In March he signed a deal with Callaway Golf to document his golfing journey, and in June he became the face of Walker’s Shortbread, the brand’s first-ever ambassador. The Scottish star has also supported Albert Bartlett, the Dunblane-based potato company that serves his Cromlix hotel, and he has served as a global ambassador for WWF, backing anti-poaching and wildlife initiatives. While the exact sums are not disclosed, industry observers estimate the earnings from his commercial activities could approach £12 million a year.

Bonnie is eight months old and is believed to be a flat-coated retriever. Murray said health and nutrition are a priority for the dog, just as they were for him during his playing days. The pair are set to appear in a new Purina Pro Plan television advert this autumn, a TV spot that will highlight Bonnie’s busy life and the importance of feeding pets like professionals.

Since retiring from the tour, Murray has pursued other sports, including skiing, and has invested in golf facilities at home, reportedly installing a simulator at his Surrey mansion to practice his swing. He is due to tee off at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in St Andrews next week, underscoring how the former world No. 1 continues to balance sport with media and endorsement opportunities.

On the business side, Murray's brand collaborations have followed a steady cadence: Callaway Golf in March, Walker’s Shortbread in June, then Purina Pro Plan in July. The Cromlix hotel in Dunblane has long featured his image with Albert Bartlett, tying his endorsements to his family business interests. The running total of the deals has fueled speculation that Murray could be earning as much as £12 million a year from commercial activities.

After the passing of Rusty, Murray posted a tribute on social media: 'You were the most loyal and protective companion our family could have wished for. You were so patient and gentle with the kids and we all learned so much from you. The house feels empty without you in it... Love you ruzz rest easy poppet.' The sentiment underscored how his personal life remains intertwined with his public life in sport and branding.
