Nicolas Jackson’s camp rebukes Uli Hoeness after Bayern loan details revealed

Nicolas Jackson’s representatives have pushed back after Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeness publicly disclosed details of the forward’s loan move from Chelsea and questioned whether the deal will become permanent.

Hoeness told German television channel SPORT1 that the loan to Bayern included a reported £56.2 million obligation to buy but said that obligation would only be triggered if Jackson starts 40 games this season. Hoeness also said Jackson and his agent had contributed €3 million of the initial payment, and suggested the clause was unlikely to be met, pointing to the volume of starts required as a major barrier.

Jackson’s agent, Diomansy Kamara, responded on Instagram without naming Hoeness directly, saying: "Many speak, but few tell the truth. That's not the topic today. Our only priority is Senegal's decisive match for World Cup qualification. This is a crucial moment for the entire nation." Kamara added that their "track record, our ethics and our way of working are well known, first as footballers and now as advisors to African players," and called for unity, saying the matter would be dealt with at the appropriate time.

The exchange follows a complicated Deadline Day transfer that was at one point halted by Chelsea before being resurrected. Chelsea initially paused the move after striker Liam Delap suffered an injury, which briefly left the club short of cover. The transfer was reinstated after Chelsea recalled Marc Guiu from his loan at Sunderland, allowing Jackson to travel to Munich and complete the switch. Reports of the deal’s financials indicated a £14.2 million loan fee and the £56.2 million obligation to buy.

Jackson joined Chelsea from Villarreal in 2023 for a reported £32 million but struggled for consistency at Stamford Bridge. He scored 13 goals in all competitions last season. Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca sanctioned his departure after Jackson received two red cards in the space of five games during the summer, according to club accounts at the time.

At Bayern, Jackson faces competition for minutes in a forward line led by England captain Harry Kane, who has continued a prolific scoring record in the Bundesliga. Bayern have also made several changes to attacking personnel this summer, which the club says could create opportunities for new arrivals, but reaching 40 starts in a single season would be a significant challenge given the depth and rotation at the club.

On joining Bayern, Jackson said he was "really happy to now be part of this great club," adding that he had "big goals and dreams" and would work to help Bayern win further titles. Whether Bayern will trigger any obligation to buy remains unclear and will depend on how the season unfolds and on the interpretation and application of the specific contractual conditions that both clubs agreed.

Jackson is in line to make his Bayern debut after the international break when the champions return to Bundesliga action against Hamburg. Bayern and Chelsea did not immediately respond to requests for further comment on Hoeness’s on-air remarks or Kamara’s Instagram post.
