Oklahoma State Fans Call for Gundy Fire After Historic Home Loss to Tulsa
Chants of 'Fire Gundy' erupt as Tulsa upsets Cowboys 19-12 at Boone Pickens Stadium; OSU falls to 1-2

Oklahoma State fans called for coach Mike Gundy to be fired after the Cowboys lost at home to Tulsa 19-12, the program’s first loss to the Golden Hurricane at Boone Pickens Stadium in 74 years.
Tulsa built a 16-3 halftime lead, and the mood grew tense as the crowd's chants of 'Fire Gundy' echoed through the stadium, continuing into the fourth quarter with Tulsa ahead 19-12 as the ESPN telecast captured the boisterous reaction.
Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy praised the home fans afterward, saying they were 'awesome tonight, they really were.' He added that the stadium was full and the atmosphere was intense. When asked what message he would send to fans who want him fired immediately, Gundy replied, 'Those aren’t decisions that I make. My decision is to do exactly what I mentioned earlier and get these guys and keep on moving forward and go on down the road, and that’s what you do.'
Over 21 seasons and 260 games at Oklahoma State, Gundy has compiled a 170-90 record. The Cowboys, who opened the season with a 27-7 win over UT Martin before a lopsided loss to Oregon, 69-3, sit at 1-2 after Tulsa’s upset.
The setback caps OSU’s rough start to the year and comes on the heels of last season’s 3-9 campaign, the worst in the Gundy era. The Cowboys will try to rebound at home next week against Baylor, a 2-1 squad that will visit Boone Pickens Stadium.
