Packers coach Matt LaFleur berates Kingsley Enagbare after sideline mistake stalls drive vs. Commanders
Green Bay’s no-huddle attempt on a fourth-and-3 was stopped after a defensive player stepped onto the field, drawing a furious response from the coach

Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur angrily confronted defensive end Kingsley Enagbare on the sideline Thursday night after a sideline miscue disrupted a no-huddle snap and helped stall a fourth-down drive against the Washington Commanders.
The incident occurred in the first quarter on a 4th-and-3 play when the Packers attempted to run a no-huddle sequence. Enagbare, 25, stepped onto the field and officials stopped play to allow the Commanders to substitute, negating Green Bay’s quick-play advantage. The Packers ultimately failed to convert when quarterback Jordan Love’s pass intended for wide receiver Matthew Golden fell incomplete at the Commanders’ 33-yard line, resulting in a turnover on downs.
Television cameras captured LaFleur screaming at Enagbare on the sideline after the drive stalled. LaFleur also argued with game officials after they stopped the play, visibly upset that Green Bay was prevented from snapping the ball quickly. On the play, Golden had gotten open over the middle but Love underthrew him, and a Washington defender broke up the pass.
Enagbare, a fourth-year player whom the Packers drafted in 2022, started seven games last season and has appeared in 53 games for Green Bay, including Thursday’s matchup. LaFleur is in his seventh season as the Packers’ head coach and entered the game with a 68-33 record.
Some fans reacted positively to LaFleur’s outburst on social media, posting comments such as “Matt LaFleur getting mad on the sidelines really does extend my life by five years every time” and “I live for irate Matt LaFleur.”
The sideline confrontation follows a similar episode around the league last week, when New York Giants coach Brian Daboll clashed with receiver Malik Nabers on the sideline. LaFleur’s exchange with Enagbare adds to a string of visible coach-player disputes early in the NFL season.
Neither LaFleur nor Enagbare provided comments immediately after the game. The stoppage on the no-huddle attempt and the subsequent turnover on downs proved decisive in the sequence, and Green Bay’s coaching staff will likely review the play and sideline communication ahead of upcoming games.
