PSG coach Luis Enrique rushed to hospital after cycling accident
Paris Saint-Germain say head coach will undergo surgery for a fractured collarbone ahead of key fixtures

Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique was taken to hospital on Friday after a cycling accident and is due to undergo surgery for a fractured collarbone, the club said.
The 55-year-old Spaniard was treated by emergency services at the scene before being transferred to hospital. In a statement released on Friday evening, PSG said: "Following a cycling accident on Friday, Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique was treated by the emergency services and will undergo surgery for a fractured collarbone. The club expresses its full support and wishes him a swift recovery. Further updates will be shared in due course."
The incident comes just over a week before PSG return to domestic and European action following the international break. PSG are scheduled to host Lens in Ligue 1 on Sept. 14, and to begin their Champions League title defence against Atalanta three days later on Sept. 17. The club did not say whether Enrique would be available to take charge on the touchline for either match.
Emergency services responded immediately to the scene and PSG confirmed he had been transferred for operative treatment. The club offered full support to Enrique and said it would provide further updates in due course.
A fractured clavicle, or collarbone, is commonly managed either surgically or non-surgically depending on the severity and displacement of the break. Recovery typically takes six to eight weeks, although timelines vary by patient and treatment approach.
Enrique, who took charge at the Parc des Princes after a successful managerial career that included stints with Barcelona and the Spain national team, led PSG into this season as they defend their Champions League title. The club's medical and coaching staff will now assess his condition and prepare interim arrangements if necessary.
PSG did not immediately name who would take on first-team duties if Enrique is unable to be present for upcoming fixtures. The club's sporting director and coaching staff are expected to meet in the coming days to finalise planning while awaiting further medical details.
Further information is expected when the club releases an update on Enrique's condition after surgery. Media and supporters were advised to await official communications from Paris Saint-Germain rather than rely on unconfirmed reports.
