Raja Jackson, 25, the son of former UFC champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, was arrested on a felony assault charge in Los Angeles County, weeks after a livestream captured him attacking professional wrestler Stuart Smith, known as “Syko Stu,” during a wrestling event that was described as scripted. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department records show Jackson was arrested Thursday and remained in a Los Angeles jail on a $50,000 bond in the morning.

The incident unfolded last month at a wrestling academy in the Sun Valley neighborhood of Los Angeles during an event promoted as scripted entertainment. As the match began, Jackson entered the ring in street clothes, confronted Smith and delivered a slam to the ring followed by repeated punches until Smith lost consciousness. Several other wrestlers intervened to pull Jackson off Smith, and Jackson fled the venue on foot after the attack.

Stuart Smith, who also performs under the ring name “Syko Stu,” required hospitalization after the incident. He spent several days in intensive care before being released on Aug. 31. In a later social-media post, Smith described ongoing consequences of the injury, including a serious head injury, trauma to both jaws, a laceration to his upper lip and the loss of several teeth.

Jackson’s father, Quinton Jackson, condemned the attack on social media and called for accountability. He suggested that his son face a combination of jail time, community service and treatment or therapy. The public response from the former champion underscored the shock surrounding the incident and the broader questions about how performers and athletes are protected in promotional events that blur lines between sport and entertainment.

Authorities have described the case as ongoing. The arrest appears to reflect an escalation from the livestreamed confrontation to formal charges, with investigators reviewing video footage and interviewing participants and witnesses from the event. The incident has prompted renewed discussion within professional wrestling communities about safety protocols, reverence for scripted performance, and the consequences that can arise when real violence erupts during what is framed as entertainment.

The younger Jackson’s arrest adds a new layer to the public narrative surrounding his family. Quinton Jackson’s public response contrasted starkly with the heat of the moment on social media, illustrating the rapid shift from onlookers at the scene to legal scrutiny and judicial processes. While the state and county sheriffs’ offices continue to document the legal proceedings, those familiar with the incident say the case will hinge on whether the acts in question were willful and could be prosecuted as assault under applicable statutes.

In the wake of the event, several wrestling organizations reiterated their commitment to safety and to ensuring that activities conducted at their facilities are consistent with legal and regulatory expectations. Officials stressed that, regardless of the entertainment framework, violence that injures another person is subject to criminal accountability. As investigators gather additional details and potential witnesses come forward, prosecutors will determine the appropriate charges and any possible enhancements based on the severity of the injuries and the circumstances surrounding the confrontation.

Raja Jackson remains in custody on the posted bond while the investigation continues. Court records and statements from his representatives have not yet disclosed any defense strategy or admissions regarding the events at the Sun Valley venue. The broader sports and entertainment community continues to watch closely as authorities work to determine accountability for a confrontation that rapidly shifted from a planned showpiece to a real-world assault with lasting medical and legal implications.
