Ryan Reynolds returns to Wrexham as club seeks first home Championship win after £32m summer outlay
The actor co-owner attended a meet-and-greet and watched Wrexham face QPR as the club adapts to life back in the second tier after heavy transfer activity.

Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds returned to Wrexham on Saturday as the club aimed to record its first home win since promotion back to the Championship, attending a fixture against Queens Park Rangers after taking part in a daytime meet-and-greet with the Wrexham women’s team.
Wrexham, co-owned by Reynolds and actor Rob Mac, won their first Championship match away at Millwall before the international break but have yet to secure victory at the Racecourse Ground since returning to the second tier for the first time in 43 years. Reynolds was present for Wrexham’s previous home game, a 3-2 defeat by West Bromwich Albion, and made the trip hoping his second appearance would bring better luck.
The club’s summer recruitment has been the most active in Wrexham’s recent history, with 13 new signings costing around £32 million in total. Several moves were completed on Deadline Day, including the permanent signings of Ben Sheaf for about £6.5 million and Dom Hyam for about £2.7 million, plus a loan deal for Issa Kabore from Manchester City.
Reynolds took part in a fan event earlier in the day at the club shop in Wrexham city centre, joining a meet-and-greet with the women’s squad and posing for photographs with supporters and players, including striker Rosie Hughes. His appearances have become a regular feature of the club’s home fixtures since he and Mac took majority ownership.
Speaking to Sky Sports during his previous visit for the West Brom match, Reynolds described his approach to ownership as deliberately limited on football matters. "We have a very hands-off management style," he said. "Our job is to listen, learn, and tell the story. And that is a great position for any ownership group to be in, to really just be there to support and tell the story. We don't make football decisions. And actually the great gift of that is that we're able to have relationships with the players at Wrexham, whereas most people in our position can't. So we have a relationship with every single one of our players."
The early weeks of the season have been described as chaotic by observers, as the club integrates a large number of new signings while adapting to the increased competitiveness of the Championship. Managerial and sporting staff have overseen the squad overhaul as Wrexham aim to consolidate their status in the league after their promotion.
Wrexham’s match against QPR was part of a schedule that has tested the club’s squad depth, and the outcome at the Racecourse Ground will be seen as an early indicator of how effectively the new recruits are settling in. Reynolds’ attendance continued a pattern of owners participating in public-facing events and supporting both the men’s and women’s sides as the club navigates its first Championship campaign in more than four decades.
