Ryder Cup stars deepen field at ProCore Championship, reshaping betting outlook at Silverado Resort
Scottie Scheffler and a dozen U.S. Ryder Cup players headline the Napa Valley event, prompting adjusted picks and long-shot wagers for the 2025 ProCore Championship

The ProCore Championship at Silverado Resort will feature an unusually deep field for a late-season event, with several members of Team USA using the tournament as final preparation for the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in two weeks.
Scottie Scheffler leads a list of heavyweights entered for the Napa Valley stop, joined by Russell Henley, Justin Thomas, Cameron Young, J.J. Spaun, Collin Morikawa, Harris English, Ben Griffin, Patrick Cantlay and Sam Burns. Only Bryson DeChambeau and Xander Schauffele from the U.S. side are absent, according to a New York Post betting preview. The influx of Ryder Cup players changes a week that traditionally has favored up-and-comers and long shots, making it harder for outsiders to break through at a course that previously yielded surprise winners.
The stronger field has prompted bettors and handicappers to adjust their approaches. With marquee names vying for form and match-sharpness ahead of the Ryder Cup, the usual strategy of targeting long odds at Silverado may be less effective this week. The New York Post’s Michael Leboff, writing in a betting column, offered several selections and reasoning for those seeking value on the board.
One of Leboff’s primary recommendations is Collin Morikawa, listed at 25-1 on DraftKings. Morikawa, a two-time major champion, struggled down the stretch of the regular season, missing two cuts and failing to contend in the FedEx Cup Playoffs, with only a single top-10 since March. Still, Leboff noted Morikawa’s high ceiling and the incentive for U.S. captain Keegan Bradley to have him in form for Bethpage Black, making him an attractive mid-range pick if he can rediscover his best ball-striking.
Leboff also highlighted Emiliano Grillo as a value choice at 80-1 on FanDuel. Grillo, a two-time PGA Tour winner from Argentina, has shown greater consistency this season, making 10 of his last 11 cuts and posting six top-25 finishes during that stretch. The Argentine pushed to a playoff loss at the John Deere Classic in July, and Leboff suggested that his steadier recent form could translate into a surprise contention at Silverado.
As a long-shot swing, Leboff named three-time PGA Tour winner Chez Reavie at 1,000-1 on FanDuel. Reavie’s 2025 campaign was limited—he played 10 Tour events and missed six cuts—but he has strong course history at Silverado, finishing tied for third in 2021 and being in contention last year before a difficult Sunday. Leboff framed the pick as a high-risk, high-reward play predicated on course fit rather than current form.
The stronger-than-usual roster in Napa offers both players and bettors a final competitive tune-up before the Ryder Cup. For Ryder Cup participants, the ProCore provides competitive holes under pressure and a chance to sharpen match-play strategies in tournament conditions. For others, it presents a tougher road to victory than in recent editions, when weaker fields created more opportunities for lesser-known players to claim the trophy.
Bookmakers have adjusted odds and markets to reflect the upgraded field, and bettors are weighing form, course history and Ryder Cup motivation in their selections. Leboff’s column, which draws on his decade of experience in the wagering industry, framed the ProCore as a week where conventional late-season betting instincts should be tempered by the presence of elite players using the event as preparation for an international team showdown.
The ProCore Championship begins later this week at Silverado Resort in Napa Valley, and attention will quickly turn from individual tournament outcomes to Ryder Cup readiness as players make their final preparations for Bethpage Black.
