Sanchez breaks silence after Chelsea keeper's red-card blunder in Man United defeat

Robert Sanchez broke his silence after Chelsea's 2-1 defeat at Manchester United, releasing a 21-word message on Instagram following the game. The Spaniard was dismissed five minutes into the match at Old Trafford for a kamikaze challenge that left United with an early lead and Chelsea facing an uphill task from the start.

United took the lead through Bruno Fernandes with a close-range finish, and Casemiro added a second after a scramble in the box. The dismissal of Chelsea's goalkeeper helped set a chaotic tone for the first half, prompting Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca to make three early changes as his team chased the game.

Trevoh Chalobah gave Chelsea a glimmer of hope with a late headed goal, but the Blues could not complete the comeback as United held on for the win. The result left Chelsea 2-1 down at the break and with a difficult second half to negotiate in adverse conditions.

Speaking after the match, Chalobah admitted the first 15 minutes were among the worst of the season and said the side must reflect and raise standards. "It wasn't good enough from us as a club," he said.

United manager Ruben Amorim praised his players for their response to the red card, saying the side started "really well, really aggressive" and that the sending off "helped us" finish the game. He indicated the win would relieve pressure as United turn attention to their next fixture against Brentford.

Across the week, Chelsea's start to the season has given way to a disappointing run, including a midweek loss to Bayern Munich after an unbeaten start in the league. Chelsea now prepare for a Carabao Cup trip to Lincoln City on Tuesday, while United travel to face Brentford next weekend.

The clash at Old Trafford is part of a wider narrative about Enzo Maresca's rebuilding project and the squad's early-season inconsistency.
