Shilo Sanders Works Out for 49ers Weeks After Buccaneers Release

Shilo Sanders worked out for the San Francisco 49ers at their practice facility on Tuesday, NBC Sports Bay Area first reported. The Colorado product was one of six players to visit for a tryout as San Francisco evaluates options following Nick Bosa's season-ending ACL tear in Sunday’s win over the Cardinals. The 49ers have since added defensive lineman William Bradley-King to the practice squad, NFL Network reported.

Sanders, 25, went undrafted out of Colorado and signed with the Buccaneers before he was released after a lively preseason that included a fine for punching a Bills player during a game.

His father, Deion Sanders, addressed Shilo’s direction on the Colorado Football Coaches Show, saying life could head toward acting or streaming. In a separate video posted to his YouTube channel, Shilo suggested he had a spot in Tampa through December and that he was weighing a move to Los Angeles for acting and music opportunities.

With Bosa sidelined by an ACL injury, the 49ers are evaluating options at defensive back and along the front, hoping to shore up a roster that has been tested by injuries and turnover. Tuesday’s workout with Sanders was part of a broader review of potential fits, though there was no immediate public comment from the team about the visit.

The bid by Sanders highlights the continuing hunt for added depth as teams adjust rosters after preseason cuts and midseason injuries, and it remains to be seen whether San Francisco or another club will sign him in the near term.
