Spiranac backs DeChambeau after Ryder Cup jab by Brandel Chamblee
Golf influencer Paige Spiranac defends Bryson DeChambeau after on-air criticism from Brandel Chamblee at the 2025 Ryder Cup in New York.

Paige Spiranac publicly defended Bryson DeChambeau after Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee criticized him on air during the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in New York.
Chamblee, appearing on air Friday, called DeChambeau 'an odd duck' who would be 'a captain's nightmare' and suggested his social-media content would distract from the team event. He also questioned whether the views on DeChambeau's YouTube channel are legitimate, saying, 'What he did do was talk about his YouTube channel... the numbers are generated from that, it’s pretty dubious. I have no doubt that bots are generating a lot of those views.' Chamblee added that DeChambeau remains a talented golfer but would be difficult to pair with because of his approach to team play. Spiranac responded on X: 'Brandel saying Bryson is a 'captain’s nightmare' is such a weird take. He’s the perfect person for this type of team event. He gets the people going! Will be fun to watch his matches this week.' She also noted that Chamblee had blocked her on X.
DeChambeau, 32, is making his third Ryder Cup appearance with an overall record of 2-3-1. He and Team USA began the event on a positive note Friday, with his booming first shot helping set the tone for the early sessions. Beyond the course, DeChambeau is widely known for his online presence, including a YouTube channel that has about 2.43 million subscribers.
Chamblee has been a vocal critic of DeChambeau since his 2022 decision to leave the PGA Tour for LIV Golf, a stance that colors ongoing conversations about the event and its players. Supporters argue DeChambeau’s bold, analytics-driven approach energizes crowds and teammates, while detractors question the balance of media attention with team performance as Ryder Cup play continues.
