Travis Hunter debuts new haircut as Jaguars open season

Travis Hunter arrived at EverBank Stadium with a new buzz cut ahead of his NFL regular-season debut on Sept. 7, 2025, drawing attention from fans and social media before he took the field for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Video circulated of Hunter walking into the stadium following his shaved haircut, pausing to pose for a photo before proceeding to the Jaguars’ locker room. The wide receiver, selected No. 2 overall in April’s 2025 NFL Draft, ran onto the field sporting the new look and made four catches for 22 yards before play was halted midway through the second quarter because of lightning.

The haircut drew a range of reactions on X, where some users compared his look to tennis player Carlos Alcaraz and others praised the clean cut. "He wanna be Carlos Alcaraz so bad," one user wrote. "The buzz cut looks clean, NGL," another posted, while a third wrote, "I can’t explain it but he just became a Top 5 WR in the league."

Hunter’s arrival in Jacksonville capped a notable personal stretch. He married longtime girlfriend Leanna Lenee in April, and the couple announced in a YouTube video that Lenee was pregnant; the pair said she gave birth before the start of the season.

Jacksonville’s season opener was interrupted by lightning in the second quarter after Hunter logged his four catches. The delay paused the Jaguars' first regular-season game since drafting Hunter, whose college career and draft status had generated considerable attention and expectations.

Hunter’s debut marked the latest step in his transition from college standout to professional player. The Jaguars, who invested a top draft pick in Hunter, will monitor his progress through the early weeks of the season as he adjusts to the NFL and the team navigates weather-related interruptions and the standard challenges of a campaign opener.

The new haircut and early-game involvement provided a visual and statistical start to Hunter’s professional career, while off-field milestones have underscored a busy offseason for the young receiver. Further developments will unfold as Jacksonville resumes play and Hunter continues his first NFL season.
