Troy Deeney names Premier League Team of the Week after latest round

BBC football pundit Troy Deeney has named his Premier League Team of the Week after the latest round of fixtures. The selection features Martin Dubravka in goal for Burnley, whose several saves helped earn what could be a crucial point against Nottingham Forest.

Defence is made up of Tyrick Mitchell (Crystal Palace), Marcos Senesi (Bournemouth), Sven Botman (Newcastle) and Neco Williams (Nottingham Forest). In midfield, Deeney selects Ryan Gravenberch (Liverpool), Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United), Anton Stach (Leeds) and Alex Iwobi (Fulham). Up front are Wilson Isidor (Sunderland) and Hugo Ekitike (Liverpool). The panel also names Leeds manager Daniel Farke as the week’s managerial pick.

Dubravka’s performance, in particular his late reflex stops, helped Burnley cling to a draw in a tight contest. Williams impressed with his willingness to get forward and contribute in attack, while Senesi has continued to grow into a reliable presence at the back after Bournemouth kept a clean sheet this week. Botman’s recent return from injury has been a significant talking point for Newcastle, with Deeney noting his leadership and composure at the heart of the defense.

In midfield, Gravenberch has looked settled since arriving at Liverpool and added a goal as part of a run of five straight wins for the club. Fernandes brought urgency and a goal-scoring threat to United in a must-win game, while Stach’s energy and bite have been evident since arriving at Leeds. Iwobi supplied a goal and a superb assist in Fulham’s win, underscoring his consistent effort and quality on the ball. Up front, Isidor has shown quality in front of goal for Sunderland, while Ekitike has continued to adapt and produce moments of decisive play for Liverpool.

Isidor’s and Ekitike’s joint presence has given Deeney food for thought about Liverpool’s attacking options, and Fernandes’s milestone goal for United added weight to the week’s selections. Daniel Farke’s Leeds, meanwhile, earned praise for a substantial victory away to Wolves, strengthening the case that the manager has Leeds moving in a more competitive direction after a difficult end to the previous campaign.

Fans are invited to share their thoughts on Troy Deeney’s selections in the comments below and to propose their own Team of the Week. More on this story
