Trump and Kai Trump attend Ryder Cup together at Bethpage Black
President and granddaughter watch the biennial golf tournament in New York; Trump in a suit and white golf shoes while Kai wears casual attire

President Donald Trump and his granddaughter Kai Trump attended the Ryder Cup on Friday at Bethpage Black Golf Course in Farmingdale, New York, as the biennial event drew spectators and attention to the Trump family’s long-running affinity for golf.
Trump, 79, arrived in a suit and white golf shoes, while Kai, 18, wore black jeans, sneakers and a white sweatshirt bearing her initials in blue and red. The two watched the competition from a shielded viewing area.
The duo have long been vocal about their shared love of the game. Kai referenced golf in her July 2024 Republican National Convention speech, and the family has periodically highlighted their involvement in the sport over the years. Kai has also posted about her golf journey online, including her plans to pursue college golf.
In April, Trump praised his granddaughter's skills in a video, saying, “Some day she’ll be able to beat her grandfather, but it might be a long time.” He added, “I play a lot of golf with Kai and she’s a fantastic golfer.” The remarks underscored a familiarity with her progress as she navigates competitive golf at the high school and now college levels.
Kai, notably, committed to the University of Miami’s golf team in August 2024. “I would like to thank my Grandpa for giving me access to great courses and tremendous support,” she wrote in announcing the news last year. She is entering the 2024-25 academic year as a senior at the Benjamin School in Palm Beach, Florida.
She started her senior year last month, sharing celebratory posts about this milestone with followers. The family has emphasized golf as a touchstone of their relationship, and Kai has continued to document her training and competitions as she prepares for college-level play.
As the Ryder Cup remains a centerpiece of the sport’s calendar, Friday’s outing at Bethpage Black offered a high-profile showcase for a family with a well-known public love of golf. The event continues to draw attention from fans and outlets around the world, and the Trump duo’s appearance added another layer of public interest to the tournament.
