Trump remembers ex-NASCAR Greg Biffle as 'great young man' after deadly plane crash
Biffle, his wife Cristina, and two of their children were among seven killed when a plane crashed near Statesville Regional Airport in North Carolina

President Donald Trump remembered former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle as a 'great young man' on Friday, a day after Biffle, his wife Cristina, and their two children were among seven people killed in a plane crash near Statesville Regional Airport in North Carolina.
Authorities said the plane took off around 10:05 a.m. ET on Thursday and began to turn back to the airport about five minutes after departure, crashing roughly 10 minutes after takeoff. The National Transportation Safety Board identified the victims as Biffle, Cristina Biffle, and their children Ryder, 5, and Emma, 14, along with three other people who were on board: Dennis Dutton, his son Jack, and Craig Wadsworth.
Biffle, 55, won more than 50 races across NASCAR's three national series, including 19 Cup Series wins. He captured the Truck Series championship in 2000 and the Xfinity Series title in 2002. NASCAR described him as a beloved member of the NASCAR community, a fierce competitor and a friend to many.
Trump’s remarks in North Carolina also included condolences to the people of the state. The crash marks a devastating loss for the sport, which mourns Biffle’s contributions as a driver who competed across Cup, Xfinity and Truck series, helping to shape a generation of NASCAR competition.
