Two Marquette men’s lacrosse players killed in Milwaukee car crash

Two members of Marquette University’s men’s lacrosse team were killed Friday night when the vehicle they were riding in was struck by another car near the school’s Milwaukee campus, university officials and police said.

The university identified the victims as Noah Snyder and Scott Michaud. Milwaukee police said the collision occurred at approximately 5 p.m. when a 41-year-old driver struck a car carrying six people. Snyder and Michaud were pronounced dead at the scene, and the four other occupants suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Marquette confirmed that four of its teammates were among those in the car.

Marquette University President Kimo Ah Yun posted on social media, "Please keep Noah and Scott’s parents, siblings and families, and the Marquette Athletics and college communities in your prayers. Noah and Scott’s lives were taken too soon and we share in the heartbreak of their teammates, coaches and those who knew them personally." The university declined immediate additional comment as campus officials worked to notify next of kin.

Campus response

Milwaukee police said the crash remains under investigation. The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing possible charges, according to a local news report. Authorities have not released the name of the 41-year-old driver or indicated whether any charges have been filed.

Marquette Athletics and members of the lacrosse program have not released further public statements about team plans or memorial arrangements. The university’s athletics department typically offers counseling and support services to student-athletes after critical incidents, and officials said they were coordinating resources for teammates and staff.

The deaths come as the Marquette lacrosse program seeks to build on recent seasons and as the university community begins to process the sudden loss. No additional details about the circumstances leading up to the collision or the condition of the injured occupants were immediately available. Police asked anyone with information about the crash to contact Milwaukee police as the investigation continues.

University and law enforcement officials asked for privacy for the families and those directly affected while notifications and investigative steps continue. Further updates are expected as investigators and the district attorney complete their reviews.
