UNC loses 34-9 to UCF as Belichick chats with Jordon Hudson on sideline before kickoff
Knights roll to 3-0 start; Lopez leaves with a right-leg injury after two interceptions as Hudson and Belichick share a sideline moment ahead of the game

North Carolina's football season took a sour turn Saturday with a 34-9 loss at Central Florida. The Tar Heels were briefly spotted on the sideline by Jordon Hudson, who was seen in high heels engaging Bill Belichick in a conversation before kickoff, a moment that drew attention but did not change the outcome.
Central Florida opened with 13 unanswered points and never trailed. UNC managed a field goal late in the second quarter, but Gio Lopez struggled: he completed 87 yards with two interceptions before leaving the game in the third quarter with a right leg injury. The Knights answered with Tayven Jackson, who finished with 223 passing yards, 66 rushing yards, and both a passing and rushing touchdown. The win extends UCF's start to 3-0 for the third consecutive season.
Belichick's postgame assessment reflected the mismatch. "There are a lot of things that we need to do to a better job of and they were just better than us today," he said after the Tar Heels fell to 2-2. "Their team played well, certainly better than we did. There were too many problems out there to be consistent." The UNC quarterback situation remained precarious, with Lopez exiting after sustaining the leg injury and backup Tayven Jackson directing UCF's offense to a convincing third straight win to start the season.
Hudson's sideline moment with Belichick has drawn attention this season. The interaction on the UNC sideline before Saturday's game marked the latest instance of the 24-year-old Hudson being spotted on the field during UNC's games, a presence that has become a talking point among observers of the Tar Heels.
This is the third straight season that Central Florida has started 3-0. Frost linked the early success to a longstanding sense of being underestimated, saying his team plays with a chip on its shoulder. "This is only my third season coaching at UCF, but I’ve been around coach (Sean) Beckton and Travis Fisher a lot, and that seems like the ammo of UCF — going a long way back we have been a little disrespected. We’re not Central Florida. We’re UCF. People picking us last and not having any confidence in several people on the coaching staff and we haven’t done anything yet, but I think it fits with what UCF has been for a long time if we play with a little chip."
