UNT beats Army in overtime after Stone Cold celebration at West Point
North Texas rallies from a 38-38 tie to win 45-38 in overtime, moving to 4-0 on the season

West Point, N.Y. — Keviyan Huddleston recovered a fumble by Army quarterback Noah Short on the Black Knights' opening drive, and the North Texas defensive lineman celebrated with a Mean Green belt and a Stone Cold Steve Austin–style celebration. The moment set the tone as UNT built an early lead and ultimately defeated Army in overtime, 45-38, on Saturday.
UNT took the lead on its first possession with a touchdown and extended the margin to 21-0 by the end of the first quarter. After Huddleston's fumble recovery, UNT pushed its advantage to 28-7 before Army staged a late rally. The Black Knights scored a fourth-down touchdown and, after recovering a UNT fumble, kicked a field goal in the final minutes to pull within 38-38 and force overtime.
North Texas answered in overtime, scoring a touchdown on its first trip and then stifling Army to secure a 45-38 final. The victory moves UNT to 4-0 on the season and adds another dramatic moment to a season that has already featured a number of close wins for the Mean Green.
The celebration surrounding Huddleston's fumble recovery drew attention, but the on-field result was the main story: UNT withstood Army's late push, then converted in the extra period to seal the win. Steve Austin, who played football at North Texas for two years before a long professional wrestling career, has long been associated with the program, and his legacy figured into the moment on the sideline as Huddleston wore a Mean Green belt in triumph.
