Changan Deepal S07 to enter UK market with high-tech interior and UK-tuned engineering

Changan is bringing the Deepal S07, its all electric SUV, to the United Kingdom by the end of 2025. The model starts at £39,990 and is packed with tech features designed to appeal to British buyers, including a large panoramic interior screen, gesture controls and augmented reality navigation. The S07 uses a 160 kW motor, an 80 kWh battery and targets a 295 mile range on a single charge. It was designed in Turin at Changan's European centre and, for the UK market, will be engineered at the brand's Birmingham research and development base after production in China. The model will be sold through 20 Changan UK dealerships at launch, with plans to expand to 50 by the end of 2025. The car carries a five-star Euro NCAP rating and a seven-year or 100,000 mile warranty, underscoring the maker's emphasis on safety and longevity.

Under the hood the S07 is a rear-wheel-drive SUV with 215 bhp and 320 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 7.9 seconds, and DC fast charging allows a 10 to 80 percent top-up in 48 minutes. The 80 kWh battery provides the range cited above, aligning with Changan's aim to deliver real-world practicality for UK drivers. Inside, the cabin is positioned as a tech-forward space featuring a panoramic sunroof, wraparound yacht-inspired detailing, heated and ventilated vegan seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, a 14-speaker premium sound system with a driver’s speaker in the headrest, and keyless entry with a smartphone app.

A standout feature is the 15.6-inch sunflower rotating touchscreen, which pivots to face the driver as you move, accompanied by gesture recognition and a head-up display with augmented reality navigation. Ambient lighting shifts in LED colors to enhance the cabin ambience, contributing to a sense of premium refinement that Changan frames as part of its European experience. The company notes that the Deepal S07 was tested and calibrated in the UK and reflects more than 150 adaptations for local conditions, with European development done at its Turin centre and UK engineering in Birmingham. The vehicle is produced in China and tailored for the UK market before sale, with the British operation supported by a UK parts hub and a dedicated aftersales network aimed at delivering what the maker calls “gold standard” customer care.

Pricing places the S07 above some rivals in the segment. It sits higher than the Kia EV3, listed at about £32,940, and the Skoda Elroq, at roughly £31,710, reflecting the depth of technology and the extended UK-oriented calibration. Changan says the pricing aligns with its goal of offering a high-quality EV with practical real-world range and a robust warranty, while leveraging its two decades of European presence to deliver a product tuned for UK drivers.

Dealer rollout will be a focal point for the early weeks of availability. Twenty Changan UK dealers will carry the Deepal S07 at launch, with expansion to 50 by the end of 2025 supported by a dedicated UK parts hub and aftersales network intended to provide consistent service across the network. The approach signals a broader push by Chinese automakers into Europe, combining advanced onboard technology, UK-specific engineering and a long warranty against traditional expectations for mainstream brands in the sector. As the UK EV market evolves, the Deepal S07 is positioned as a premium option that blends high-tech interior features with a plausible price point for buyers seeking a more feature-rich electric SUV without sacrificing practical range or warranty assurances.
