reMarkable debuts smaller Paper Pro Move for on-the-go note-taking

reMarkable on Thursday introduced the Paper Pro Move, a 7.3-inch color E Ink digital notebook designed to put the company’s distraction-free writing experience into a more pocketable form.

The company said the Move retains key features of its larger Paper Pro model, including handwriting-to-text conversion and a multiweek battery life, but trims size and weight so it can be carried more easily throughout the day. A review published in the New York Post described the device as an "everyday upgrade" because its smaller footprint encouraged more frequent use in transit and between meetings.

The Paper Pro Move uses color E Ink and a stylus-focused interface to support writing, sketching and annotation without typical tablet distractions such as app notifications or video playback. The Move’s reduced dimensions make it well-suited to short-form note-taking, journaling and quick reference tasks, while the original, larger Paper Pro remains better suited for extended reading sessions and heavy PDF markup, according to the Post review.

The reviewer said the smaller device’s portability proved decisive in everyday use: whereas the larger Paper Pro stayed at the desk for long meeting notes and document work, the Move was picked up more often because it fits in a back pocket and is lighter to carry. That practical difference, the review noted, altered which device the reviewer chose to bring along on commutes and between appointments.

reMarkable side-by-side

reMarkable markets the Paper Pro Move for users seeking a focused, analog-like writing experience with the convenience of digital features such as handwriting recognition and cloud sync. The device’s battery is rated to last about two weeks under typical usage, and the color E Ink display supports simple diagrams and colored annotations while preserving long battery life compared with LCD- and OLED-based tablets.

The Post review also highlighted workflow examples in which the devices complement other tools; the reviewer said they used the larger Paper Pro for reading and annotating PDFs while leveraging other software to convert documents to audio for listening. The Move, by contrast, fit into a different role as the device the reviewer wanted to grab quickly for jotting ideas or capturing short meeting notes.

reMarkable in back pocket

Industry analysts have tracked a growing market for focused, E Ink-based devices aimed at professionals and students who prefer a low-distraction surface for handwriting and reading. By offering a smaller model alongside its existing lineup, reMarkable appears to be addressing demand for greater portability without abandoning the larger-screen use cases that benefit from more display real estate.

The Paper Pro Move joins a range of productivity devices that prioritize tactile input and extended battery life over multimedia capabilities. reMarkable’s dual-product approach keeps options available for users who need heavy document work on a larger screen and those who value a lighter, always-at-hand tool for everyday note-taking.
